Hello,
we are in the planning phase, and that includes preparing everything for our cats. The flooring is already decided, but the sweet ones also like to scratch. Currently, in our rental apartment, we have installed lots of sisal mats, but they still go after the wallpaper. We want to reduce wallpaper in the new house. We were thinking about some kind of interior plaster.
Can anyone share their experience? What holds up well, or where do scratches not show?
Thank you very much

Wow, now I can slowly understand your concerns. As someone with allergies, I have no connections to these little creatures and therefore can't understand all the fuss. There are cats that are deliberately and regularly stolen because they are valuable?! Unbelievable!
The "golden cage" really becomes a reality for Kitty in that case.

But that’s only one side of the story. Often, it’s simply people who feel pity and want to rescue a poor abandoned animal or just find it pretty and take it home.
The classic alley cat usually gets much less attention than the beautiful Birman cat, lounging in the sun.
Alex, a pedigree cat, typically costs between 700 and 1,000 euros, sometimes even more. This price usually includes vaccinations, neutering, and a veterinary check-up.
Take a look, for example, at major online auction sites to see how much money is paid for look-alikes from "loving" hobby breeding. Without registration papers, every cat is considered a stray.
Especially with modern breeds, a lot of money is made through breeding. What doesn’t sell is discarded. One of my male cats is also from such a discard.
And the owners simply grow attached to their pets. I couldn’t imagine life without my furry friends anymore. I haven’t had any rescue cats from animal shelters for the last three years because I just don’t have the time, but my own “tigers” are always welcome.

I have a pedigree cat from a breeder with papers (a Norwegian Forest Cat) and one from an animal shelter (also long-haired and very beautiful, with a distinctive look). Both of our cats are allowed outside with free access. We live in a lovely, nature-friendly area, and our new house will be built just two streets away, so the surroundings will be suitable there as well. Fortunately, no cat has ever been stolen here – I have never heard of such a case in our town or the neighboring areas. While cats sometimes do go missing, this happens to both working cats and pedigree or look-alike cats, so I rule out theft.
However, one should never forget that free roaming can ALWAYS be dangerous. We sadly learned this firsthand this year... one of our cats was hit by a car and died. This was also a pedigree cat. Accidents can unfortunately happen anytime... and even though no cat had been hit by a car on this street for decades before... sadly, mine was the first 🙁. I can understand why many cat owners do not want to let their cats outside. Despite my painful experience, I would still allow free outdoor access if the environment is not obviously unsuitable.
