sauerpeter28 Nov 2016 15:12Stupid question, but is a truss roof always the same? Or are there different types? I mean, if I say I want a truss roof, would my roof structure look like that? I found various pictures online; some show a roof structure with a spacious open area, while others are full of wooden cross braces, and so on.
A tent roof or pyramid roof designed as a purlin roof with a standing roof frame / ridge posts. It is not a prefabricated truss but a conventionally crafted roof structure. The load-bearing connection between the bottom purlin and the masonry is not clearly visible, however. The shell construction may possibly be a timber frame structure, with mortise and tenon joints between the wall studs and the bottom purlin.

So, when I say I want a truss roofWhy would you do that, especially since it is no cheaper than a traditional carpentered roof structure?Regards, Bauexperte
