Hello,
we are in the planning phase, and that includes preparing everything for our cats. The flooring is already decided, but the sweet ones also like to scratch. Currently, in our rental apartment, we have installed lots of sisal mats, but they still go after the wallpaper. We want to reduce wallpaper in the new house. We were thinking about some kind of interior plaster.
Can anyone share their experience? What holds up well, or where do scratches not show?
Thank you very much

Do you mean if they will get pregnant? Most breeders recommend spaying or neutering at a young age. I would advise every cat owner to do the same. A cat in heat or an intact tomcat can be a nightmare. No, stolen 🙁
I also have two purebred cats and I’m quite sure I would never see them again if they ever got out. That’s why they have to be content with their “TV” (window) 😉

Regards, BauexperteYes, the risk is always there. I’m worried about that with mine too. They all look very purebred (2 of them really are).

Regards, BauexperteYou haven’t seen our place yet 😉 Catwalks, huge litter box enclosure, raw diet, etc. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to deny them outdoor access. Two of the cats alone are true escape artists. Securing the garden with cat nets isn’t easy either and involves huge costs. We’ll see how we handle it once we’re living in the house. I’ve even thought about having a small notch cut in their ears so they’re clearly identifiable as neutered and the breeding syndicate won’t be interested.
Do you really think they will be stolen?
For most people, a cat is just a cat, and there are plenty available for free.
Besides, purebred cats from breeders are usually neutered before being given away.
Making a garden or terrace escape-proof is not easy and doesn’t look very attractive.
I’m also considering securing the front yard of the new house on the street side. But there’s quite a bit of traffic. Although yesterday, thanks to a detour, both cats refused to cross the street.

It really depends a lot on the region. In the area where we are building, I’m not very familiar with this. Years ago, near my parents’ place in Rostock, there was a spot where anything that looked nice disappeared. The police suspected criminal activities related to a breeding ring.
