ᐅ Dismantling of a Construction Access Road

Hello everyone,

Is the removal of a temporary construction road normally included in a shell construction contract or excavation work?

Background: I hired a construction company to carry out the shell construction for my extension with a basement. For the excavation, the construction company subcontracted another company, which I later paid directly (not through the construction company). A temporary construction road was necessary for the shell construction/excavation. Now I’m being told that the removal of this construction road was not part of the offer and, if at all, would need to be separately commissioned and paid for.

My question is: How is this usually handled? To me, this would be like a plasterer leaving their tape and protective sheets inside the house after finishing their work and leaving the removal to the homeowner because it wasn’t explicitly included in the contract.

Looking forward to your answers.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
F.

So? Now I have to figure out how to get him to actually do it...

You will only manage that if you have been properly contracted or even if you have not been contracted. But if you do not want help willst, then you have to fix it on your own.

Talk to him or consult a lawyer

That's really good
You ask a question but only provide fragments of the necessary information.

Then you complain until someone gives you the answer you want.

I can also give you an answer to your question: Your neighbor has to take care of it. You should go to them right away and insist that they remove the construction road immediately.

@herrsten: If you behave with your construction company the same way you do here, you won’t find a reasonable solution with them.

... but honestly: my goodness, how much I complained.

It wasn’t about an answer I “wanted” but one that is accurate. I already said that I had overlooked the question about the contract details.

And I rather think that the construction company is preventing a reasonable solution by behaving like this.

If I didn’t need help, I probably wouldn’t have made a forum post. But I don’t see how I could be helped here beyond receiving an answer.

That’s exactly what I meant.
