Does it make a price difference if a beech staircase is oiled or lacquered?

If so, how much can this affect the cost for a staircase with a 2.5-meter (8.2 feet) floor-to-floor height, quarter-turn, approximately 4 meters (13 feet) in length? The treads, posts, and handrail are made of beech.

I would appreciate any response.

What circumstance should justify the 1700 euros in a transparent way?

There is certainly some profit motive involved. To be fair, any deviation from the standard causes additional costs, especially since a prefab house is somewhat like a mass-produced product. So you cannot simply compare the price of a custom-requested painted staircase with that of a custom-requested oiled one.

This is just a side note; I do not intend to evaluate the specific figures with this.

The prefabricated house is designed entirely according to my wishes. It is not a mass-produced product. Every staircase is different.

As with many extras, this is a take-it-or-leave-it approach. It’s no different with cars. An S line package on an Audi? It costs around €2500, even though only a different bumper is attached, and the actual price difference is most likely between €0 and €10. Or underfloor heating, where you pay about €4000 more for a 30m² (320 sq ft) house depending on the region. However, the material and labor costs are similar compared to regular radiators.
