with the renovation of our old building, a new bathroom has also been added.
I’m more of a “shower person,” but on cold, wet days a hot bath isn’t a bad idea. Now I have – hopefully not the only one – the problem that when bathing I get pressure pain on my lower spine and, at the latest, one hour after the bath, bruises appear, which naturally takes away the enjoyment.
Standard bath mats could probably help, but honestly: they are not very attractive. No matter the manufacturer or brand – even the well-known ones – I don’t really like any of them. I also don’t like having these things stuck on the edge of the tub after bathing, just so no ugly marks form on the tub bottom. Last time I just placed a towel underneath; not a permanent solution.
How do you enjoy your bath, or am I the only one with this problem?

Hello building expert,
there are also these "inflatable cushions," specially made for underwater use (filled with fine-grained granules) that you can sit on.
I think something like that could help.
By the way: Who stays in the bathtub for an hour? Yes – okay – got it: women 🙂.
But after an hour, the water gets really cold. That’s no fun anymore.

There are transparent padded films that can be applied inside the bathtub. However, I can’t say how easy they are to keep clean.
Also, I usually spend a good two hours in the water. I fill it with nice hot water, enough to cover the thighs. The steam then keeps you warm, and once it gets cooler, you just need to add a little more hot water, and you can continue soaking comfortably.

I took a look – the slope of the tub’s side is quite steep on the reclining side as well... probably you didn’t take a (long) enough test lying down due to the stress?
We also have one of those Renova tubs... but we chose a different bathtub on purpose, most likely because I couldn’t sit comfortably.
Anyway, the tub is installed!
You could use it with two people in the future to find a different position and effectively "shorten" it, or you can place something made of plastic at your feet (a children’s stool?), or you might limit your bathing time to a healthy 20 minutes.
Otherwise, a sandbag also comes to mind.
