Hello house building community,
Today, during a conversation with a client, I noticed something.
Our windows are anthracite, and we want the window sills and roller shutters to match.
I read that the anthracite roller shutters are made of aluminum, unlike the standard ones, which are plastic.
Do you have any experience with aluminum roller shutters? Do they rattle in the wind or have other issues?
Or do they even offer advantages compared to plastic roller shutters?
Thank you very much

The aluminum roller shutters are somewhat more robust. Since aluminum is stiffer than plastic, the likelihood of warping when closed on wide windows is lower. Aluminum is more resistant to weather effects from UV light (fading), heat (shape retention), and cold (brittleness).
The first slat of the shutter is connected to the roller tube using stainless steel plates. Because plastic loses plasticizers over time and becomes brittle, the first plastic slat tends to break as it ages.

It is also more burglar-resistant since it cannot be melted through.
As far as I can see, we will probably stick with the aluminum roller shutters.

Burglars melting roller shutters?Yes, you only realize that gradually when you think about it. But why not?
