ᐅ Decentralized ventilation – various manufacturers

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are currently building a house. After much consideration, we have decided to install a decentralized ventilation system (we definitely did not want a centralized ventilation system). Since the electricians are on site right now, it would make sense to have the wiring installed at the same time. However, we don’t want to rush into this and prefer to take a closer look into the topic first.

There are still so many unanswered questions... So I thought I’d register on this website and try my luck in this forum. I hope you can help me.

We were recommended companies like Senertec, Maico, Viessmann, and Dimplex. Has anyone had experience with decentralized ventilation systems from these manufacturers (quality, maintenance, can you notice the air exchange?, are these ventilations noisy, etc.)?

I was told we should choose honeycomb fans. Why? What are the advantages compared to other types of fans?

Today, I already called the heating contractor to ask if he could provide a quote and what price we should expect. He said about 10,000 euros for 4 fans! Isn’t that a bit expensive?

I hope you can help me out a bit.

Best regards
Yours, Nikolaus

I still need to equip every room I want to ventilate with its own device.
With a centralized mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system, I can plan two supply ducts and two exhaust ducts for four rooms.
With a decentralized system, each room requires its own unit.

Alternatively, you could use an inverter system, which might work again, but especially in bedrooms, that wouldn’t be ideal.
There also seems to be a hybrid option—decentralized units that are centrally connected to multiple rooms.

I find it difficult to compare the costs of the devices accurately.
What does a decentralized system cost if installed in all rooms, similar to a centralized mechanical ventilation system? Would the price difference to a centralized system still be significant?
On sites like Idealo, prices start at around 300€ and can go up to about 1,000€ per unit. For seven rooms, let’s say 7 × 500€ = 3,500€.
If a centralized ventilation system costs 7,900€ (current offer from a general contractor), you “save” about half.

Now I just have to ask myself if it’s worth it.

I assume that the €7,900 includes everything, including delivery and installation. For the decentralized system price, you probably need to add installation costs. Depending on the construction method, a core drill hole is required for each unit.

My opinion: For new builds, use a centralized mechanical ventilation system. For existing buildings, retrofits, or renovations: decentralized systems are preferable if a central system is too complex.

I'll bring this old thread back up.

We will also install 6 units in a 95 m² (1023 sq ft) apartment.

Currently considering the Ambientika wireless units from Südwind.

Can anyone share their experience with these units?

Hello, the units from Südwind are the same as those from, for example, Vaillant.
I had these units about 3-4 years ago and was not satisfied.
The manufacturer is the Italian company Oerre.

Hello Higil, which decentralized system would you currently recommend? Still Seventilation? Regards

I’m also interested in which systems are currently recommended. I’m overwhelmed by the options and can’t really judge which ones are good or rather poor.

Does anyone have experience with the devices Oxxify.smart 50 or RL50RWV? They seem okay in terms of technical specifications.
Is control via Wi-Fi practical, or should additional switches be installed as well?
