ᐅ Hot Water Recirculation Pipe – What Insulation Should Be Used?

I am planning to replace my hot water line with a loop system including a circulation pump.
All routes are open.
It will be aluminum composite pipe 20x2 mm (0.8x0.08 inches).
Now, there are numerous types of insulation with different thicknesses...
I would prefer not to use the wrong one.
Can you recommend something? Preferably pipe with insulation already attached...

Thanks in advance.

You didn’t quite understand what I was getting at... let’s leave it at that.

So, I believe we can conclude that it is possible to install a domestic hot water circulation system yourself.

Theoretically, you can do everything yourself.
It depends on the skills you have.
Water systems were one of the few things where, apart from laying the underfloor heating system, we didn’t do anything ourselves.
Pressing and laying the pipes is probably not impossible, but if something isn’t watertight, the damage could potentially be huge.
With other trades, it’s usually easier to carry out repairs.

Hello

Not everything that is possible is also permitted.
Drinking water installations must only be carried out by a certified plumber.

In general:
Hot water supply pipes up to 22mm (7/8 inch) internal diameter must be insulated with a full layer of 0.35 W/m·K insulation.
Exceptions apply for branch pipes with up to 3.0 liters (0.8 gallons) volume and crossing points.

Not everything you are able to do is permitted.
Potable water installations must be carried out only by a certified plumber.

In essence:
Hot potable water pipes up to 22mm (7/8 inches) internal diameter must be insulated with 100% insulation thickness of 0.35 W/m·K (thermal conductivity).
Exception: branch lines with a volume up to 3.0 liters (0.8 gallons) and crossing points.

A friend actually did EVERYTHING in his house himself from handover onward, except for the gas connection to the boiler.
So somehow it seems to be possible...

Just because people do things doesn’t mean they are allowed to.
