ᐅ Dark exterior blinds - Would you do it again?

Hello Forum!

I am reaching out to those who have been living with dark external venetian blinds for some time. We are currently facing this decision, and there is a lot of discussion about how dark blinds tend to show dirt much more easily compared to lighter ones. What I would really like to know is the following:

- How often do you clean your dark external venetian blinds? I understand this is very subjective, but I’m interested in hearing about your different approaches.

- I assume many of you considered the issue of dirt and cleaning before purchasing dark blinds. Now that you’ve had them for a while, is the cleaning effort really as expected, less troublesome, or more so?

- Would you choose dark blinds again next time, or would you rather go for lighter ones?

It’s really a tough choice since my gut says dark (we just really like it combined with the facade in RAL 9002 Grey White), but my head leans toward lighter.

Best regards,
Jochen

One more question for you, Weimy: What color is inside your window frames? Regards

Hello,

the 7016-colored venetian blinds are installed in front of our aluminum conservatory, which is anthracite both inside and outside.

All other windows and doors are anthracite on the outside and white on the inside.

Thank you! We also considered white for the interior, but since we want the same color both inside and outside, only 7016 or possibly 8019 are options.

We initially thought about that too, but having anthracite on the inside would have limited us too much in terms of color. We have now chosen white for the walls and doors, and also anthracite for the floor, so white interior window frames—almost all of ours are floor-to-ceiling—simply fit better. But of course, it's a matter of personal taste... we wanted to strongly emphasize the floor, so we had XXL tiles measuring 1m x 1m (3.3 ft x 3.3 ft) installed throughout the entire ground and upper floors, and colored interior window frames would have disrupted that look.

Whichever color you choose, keep in mind that venetian blinds are extended most of the time.
The choice of "slat color" for looking outside should be decided by the homeowner.
Darker profiles heat up more in summer. If the budget allows, it is better to choose venetian blinds and roller shutters made of aluminum. How long the dark plastic profiles in, for example, roller shutters remain dimensionally and color stable? Unknown.

Are there exterior venetian blinds available in plastic as well?

That would be new to me...
