I think this is quite a controversial topic, but I would like to know how many power outlets you have planned behind your TV. Assuming everything is organized in one spot, of course. Obviously, you could also place the receiver and media center separately and connect the TV via HDMI cable. Then the question would be how many outlets are needed at that separate location.
For us, it’s clear that we need:
- Network cables (preferably 2)
- Satellite cable
- Speaker outlet to run speakers to the back
Power outlets are absolutely necessary for:
- TV
- Receiver/amplifier
- Media center, e.g., a media center PC
- Subwoofer (usually active; other speakers mostly passive? Don’t shoot me if I’m wrong, I am not a hi-fi expert)
Optionally, there could be:
- Up to 3 game consoles
- Additional amplifier
- Additional satellite receiver
- DVR/recording device
- ...
So the required number of outlets varies somewhere between at least 4 and up to 10. How many outlets should you install? Or just install 2 and plan to use a power strip anyway? Or plan for 10 and have it look cluttered? Oh yes, we will have to set up what I described above in two places in the living room because the orientation of the couch and TV might change.

So far, I have one of the 6 LAN ports spare. Mycraft schrieb:
Haha... my 4 are already fully used as well... but luckily I had planned to have one at different corners of the room... so now only one of the 6 is free. What devices are connected to those? TV? Media center? Console? Okay... Which devices still need LAN? Although the LAN connection on the TV might be unnecessary if the media center is connected via LAN.
Edit: The only thing I would miss online is the sports broadcast on Saturdays. I would like to record it from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm (18:30 to 20:00), like a friend of mine does, and then watch it in the evening when my daughter is in bed or maybe with friends coming over. Oh yes, and I might also record Formula 1, since on Sundays around 2:00 pm (14:00) there is usually something better to do...

Unfortunately, not much to contribute regarding the user's hobbies, generally just finding faults and pretending to share psychological insights.
BTW: That was simply nonsense, since you can record broadcasts online.

TV, satellite receiver, AV receiver, PlayStation, Blu-ray player

TV, sat receiver, AV receiver, PlayStation, Blu-ray player What does the Blu-ray player need the LAN connection for? And with the TV or receiver, it’s clear that maybe one of the devices has smart TV features (like YouTube, internet, etc.), but why would each of the devices need it?

Not every device with a LAN port necessarily needs to be connected, in my opinion.
AVR and Blu-ray player to the internet – what for? I wouldn’t install an outlet for that.
We plan for two LAN outlets. Only one is used, namely for the streaming box (primarily for content from our own NAS).
I would always go for a double outlet, but with quad receivers, that’s where it stops. The money for the additional outlets needed would be better invested in a unicable-capable multiswitch.

For dual or quad receivers, otherwise recording and watching TV at the same time isn’t possible.
