Hello everyone,

I am currently considering which video door entry system to buy for our single-family house on a hillside.
I find the video feature very useful since our living and dining area is located in the basement, so you don’t have to go upstairs every time the doorbell rings.

There are many versions on the market, and unfortunately, they vary significantly in price.
Do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
What do you think about this one?

Hello Micha,
have you already found a video intercom system?
I am also looking for one.

I am also following the other thread. I am personally looking for a video intercom system without any extra "bells and whistles." I need to be able to see who is ringing, and ideally, the camera should take a photo every time. I find DoorBird quite interesting and also reasonably priced.

There’s no need to check who is at the door anymore. At the beginning, there will be some collateral damage, but it will stabilize over time.

Does something like this even exist???
The postal worker also has a right to their own image!

Even the mail carrier has a right to their own image!

They might have that right as well, but it doesn’t really matter here. Whether it’s video or a photo makes no difference.
Also, you wouldn’t keep such material for 20 years or post it on Facebook.

The question is more whether you consider the cost of around 2,000 euros justified.

If I were to plan something like this, I would hang an IP camera at the door, triggered by a motion sensor.
Apparently, you can sometimes find such cameras at discount stores for around 70 euros.

The question remains how to deliver the image or video to the person.
A small touch screen, maybe even framed, could be an option. Then you’d have to consider whether the touch screen can be turned on and off manually or if it should switch on automatically and turn off after a certain time.

A bit of tinkering—there might also be ready-made packages available for less money.
