I currently have two different induction cooktops here (one for 39 EUR and one for 59 EUR) and I’m shocked at how noisy both devices are... even on the lowest setting, the fan runs continuously... absolutely terrible.
My question is... can I save myself the trouble of searching further... are induction cooktops generally designed to have the fan running all the time? If so, I’d rather get a conventional hotplate.
What are your experiences?
Best regards, Steffi

But with such an external cheap budget device from China, you shouldn’t have any expectations anyway. That said, it does the job well. I use one of these for cooking and keeping food warm at parties (e.g., a 25L (6.6 gallons) pot of chili con carne or mulled wine).

Alright, let's leave it at that. 😉 I don't want to start a discussion here. The functioning of induction is already well explained across the web. 😉 When a pot that is 100 degrees Celsius (212°F) hot is on the induction cooktop, the glass surface also becomes hot, and the heat naturally transfers inside by thermal radiation, even without direct contact. Over time, this heat must be vented.
