Hello everyone,
My wife and I recently purchased an old apartment that is being completely renovated.
In this context, we received the first quote from our construction manager for the custom requests in the bathrooms. As a layperson, I am having a hard time judging whether the additional labor charges are justified. Therefore, I would really appreciate your assessment and/or advice.
1. Basement: The scope of work includes a standard shower with surface-mounted fittings and a corner bathtub. However, we decided on a walk-in (level-entry) shower (with a 10cm (4 inch) platform) with built-in fittings and a freestanding bathtub (with a 10cm (4 inch) platform).
For both, an additional labor charge of 24 hours, or 3 days, is applied as extra effort. From my point of view, this seems completely exaggerated. The formwork and concrete work for the platforms are already charged separately.
2. Attic:
The scope of work includes a washbasin, toilet, and an electric extractor fan.
Additionally, a shower, which was not originally planned, is now being added.
The additional work/items listed are:
- Direct secondary supply and exhaust ventilation for the wastewater pipe: But wouldn’t this work have been necessary even without the shower?
- Room ventilation for interior bathrooms: Shouldn’t this be covered by the electric extractor fan already?
- Travel and energy costs: Completely pointless, since the workers have to be on site anyway.
Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback!

What exactly is meant by the 10cm (4 inches) platform? Without precise information, I assume the platform is created due to the necessary slope of the wastewater pipes.ypg schrieb:
An artificial platform so the shower can be called "flush with the floor"?Yes.Regards, Bauexperte
