Hello everyone,
I have a question. We are getting a subsidized air-to-water heat pump and are building through a general contractor (GC) with a fixed price that includes the heating system. We chose a better heating system, which is also eligible for the subsidy.
I spoke with the heating installer regarding the subsidy. He said he wants to complete and submit the application now, but it would be done through the GC and not through us. Since he has to send an invoice issued to the GC, as the GC is also the client.
I’m not very happy about this because the GC would receive the subsidy, and I would have to chase them for it afterwards.
Who of you has also built with a GC and installed a subsidized heat pump? How was the application handled in your case?

I can only advise every future homeowner not to sign a construction contract before the BAFA application has been submitted, even if the building company says it is not a problem. We had lengthy discussions with BAFA before the funding approval was granted.
More information on other topics can be found in our building blog (building company: Gemünden / location: Budenheim / homeowners: Juliane and Peter), which can be easily found through a Google search.

We were able to resolve the issue because we could prove that the pre-signed house construction contract did not specify a particular model, and that an additional agreement with the construction company regarding the specific heat pump was only made after submitting the BAFA application.
