I really like natural stone walls in living spaces, like in these pictures of stone walls:

Modern 3D living room lounge with stone wall, white corner sofa, and pendant lights.

Does anyone have experience with this?
Do you use regular bricks or specially made stone veneer panels?
How do you keep something like this clean (for example, is it also suitable as a backsplash behind a cooktop in the kitchen)?
I’m also interested in the costs for these types of stone walls...
Thanks in advance!

Stone walls are not recommended as splash guards in the kitchen, as they are quite difficult to clean.

We have them – shown in my avatar. There are special strips for interior use made of natural stone or gypsum with a natural stone or brick appearance, available in larger hardware store branches.

In my old rental apartment, I had tiles with this look used as a wall covering behind the countertop. They are still available under "Wall Covering Aitana" at Bauhaus. Back then, I first covered the wall with particle boards and then glued the tiles onto them. They had to be easily removable when I moved out. The whole area was indirectly illuminated from above. It looked quite nice. Cleaning behind the cooktop was relatively easy with a brush.

Looks great. I also want to have similar cladding panels in the living room (I believe they are called natural stone wall cladding). However, I’m not sure about mold growth. Does anyone have experience or more knowledge on this? I also want to place a wall unit next to it. In that context, one or two cabinets will probably be mounted on the wall. Is that problematic? Or what should be considered?

I am just not sure about the risk of mold growth.

What do you think?
