Hello,
we have found a very interesting plot of land in principle – however, when I look on maps, I see what appears to be an oil facility or something similar and a power station "nearby." There is still forest and a highway in between, but could this have any negative effects regarding odors, health, potential accidents, or something like that?
What do you think? Any concerns?

No, I have nothing to do with Frankfurt – would something like that be noticed in the soil report, or how would you find out?
With so many negative factors, you really don’t want to build anymore. It’s quite a risk for others who just buy and build without getting any reports, without preparing properly, and so on...Well, your creditworthiness is also questionable...

Usually, the wind comes from the west -> windward side
We have an exhaust vent in the east, which is not audible 95% of the time. In the rare cases of east wind, it can be heard.
I didn’t really want it the other way around. It’s exactly the same situation.
Besides, the east wind is the colder one, so it’s usually too chilly for enjoying the garden anyway 🙂

well, your creditworthiness is questionable...No problem, everything has been settled with the bank and the home builder. Still, thank you for the very relevant remark here. By now, every forum member should be familiar with my situation—at the latest after your constructive contribution.
Since I know you don’t read any threads except your own, I still want to recommend this one to you:

Caspar20208 Jul 2016 13:14As I said, this special use area I see in Boris would be quite confusing to me at the moment. I assume the plot to the north adjoining it is "yours."
It looks like there might have been some industrial use there that has been cleared. The soil might possibly be contaminated?

At the latest, now it's time for your constructive contribution.Well – mostly because of the first exhausting 30-page thread 😉.
Substation – quote from Wikipedia:
“A substation is part of the electrical supply network of a utility company and serves to connect different voltage levels. Substations always include switchgear alongside power transformers, constructed either as outdoor switchgear or in a gas-insulated, enclosed form, as well as additional equipment for measurement and control technology. Facilities without transformers are also referred to as distribution substations (load distribution or switchgear stations).
Due to the high level of automation, operation in many substations—such as carrying out switching actions—is fully automatic or remotely controlled from control centers, without on-site operating personnel.”
Not everyone likes living close to high-voltage power lines 🙁.
