Hello everyone,
We are currently in the decision-making phase for the appliances for our future Schüller country-style kitchen, and we are still quite undecided, especially on this point.
Range hood:
Visually, a retro-style range hood would probably fit best. However, these are usually quite expensive (for example, from Smeg). At the moment, we have planned for an AEG X68163BV10. However, this does not seem to be the best option in this price range. Does anyone have suggestions?
Refrigerator:
For aesthetic reasons, we chose the Geronje ONRK193C. Is it any good? (It costs around 1,100 EUR — we will not buy this together with the kitchen.)
Oven:
For the oven, it was important to us that it has as little stainless steel as possible (we don’t like that) and includes a pyrolytic self-cleaning function. We narrowed it down to three models (Siemens, Bosch, and Neff). Among these, the following Siemens model was the favorite regarding price/performance: Siemens iQ700 HB678GBS6.
Cooktop (Induction):
We are still uncertain here. Currently, the AEG HK6542H1FB cooktop is planned. However, this also doesn’t seem to be the best choice for the price. Perhaps you have better suggestions? But please nothing much more expensive.
Dishwasher:
For the dishwasher, a Neff GX665 (S52P65X0EU) was recommended to us. However, I have read online that models with zeolite technology are also popular right now. With Siemens/Bosch, there are many reports of problems (error code "E31") online... So we are also quite unsure here.
We are really looking forward to your help and tips.
Thank you very much!

Hi Payday – why do you think the other Bora models are less suitable for private use (setting price aside)? I’m interested in the system as well. Thanks!A friend has Bora and always gets frustrated when food falls inside. Apparently, that’s not ideally designed. We looked at all three versions. The basic model is best suited for private use because it’s simply designed for that purpose. It’s very easy and quick to access all the relevant parts, and food falling inside is complete nonsense and almost impossible. For anything to happen with the basic model, quite a bit would have to be poured in (1 liter+). When something boils over, nothing gets inside because the extraction system has a rim that prevents water from entering that way.
The other two models partly lack overflow protection, it’s much harder to reach the grease filter, or there is no real protection at all, as beha already mentioned. As I said, we examined all three models thoroughly.
This is by no means a toy; it’s a cooktop aimed at higher demands. It’s simply a way to avoid having a range hood hanging over kitchen islands. There is also a version where the extraction raises up, but I consider that a gimmick because moving heavy mechanical parts tend to break or get stuck easily.
Since we have so many sticklers here: I’m not saying that only Bora is great or the only option. I’m only saying that it’s an idea for open kitchen concepts and worth checking out.
The simple basic model without induction cooking surface costs around 2500€ gross (BIA/BIU // recirculation / ducted).
I can’t quite understand how anything could fall through the Basic version. The round grate has slots spaced about 7 or 8 mm (0.3 inches) apart. Only the handle hole in the center might allow a very small piece of potato to pass through, but you’d have to be really tossing it like a basketball for that to happen...
With the other two versions, I can imagine it more easily.
I saw the Basic version at a friend’s place and I think it’s good. It works.
However, what bothers me is the fact that you are tied to Bora, and that induction cooktops are disproportionately expensive.
So we are still very undecided about what to choose for our place...

There is this "technology." Does that ring a bell? Apparently, a small amount of rinse water is collected in a water tank and reused during the next rinse cycle. Sounds unhygienic at first, and it probably saves nYes; we have that in our Siemens dishwasher. The clear rinse water is basically set aside to be used again during the next pre-rinse. So it’s not unhygienic at all, even after two weeks away on vacation.
And the cutlery drawer is absolutely essential for me nowadays. For example, if you have brushed matt cutlery. Also, I wouldn’t want to miss the upper basket that can be height-adjusted with a single hand movement, especially when dealing with a tall asparagus pot.
Regarding the refrigerator, I would never install a kitchen without a zero-degree compartment again. We have a fridge-freezer combination from Siemens. Having two separate cooling circuits is also great because the freezer temperature is not dependent on the fridge section.
For the new cooktop, we will go with the flex zone / vario induction system from Siemens. It really convinced me during the demonstration in the showroom. Due to space limitations, we need to stick with a 60cm (24 inch) cooktop; with traditional hob configurations, the number and size of cooking zones never quite match the way you want to cook, or they are located in inconvenient spots.
The fact that almost everything in our kitchen is Siemens is purely coincidental; brands like Miele, for example, are simply too expensive for me.
