Hello everyone,

What ceiling height do you consider practical? Right now, it is planned at 2.45 meters (8 feet). Would you go higher, or do you think this height is fine?

Maybe it can still be adjusted.

Thanks and regards

In our offer, the clear structural height is mentioned. Sorry, I should have pointed that out. According to the construction company, you need to subtract 15cm (6 inches) on the ground floor and 12cm (5 inches) on the upper floor.

After my adjustment and with 2.75m (9 feet) on the ground floor, we end up with about 2.60m (8 feet 6 inches) usable height on the ground floor. Keeping the planned height of 2.62m (8 feet 7 inches) on the upper floor leaves us with around 2.50m (8 feet 2 inches) usable height there. That sounds right to me. On the ground floor, more than in our current apartment, making the living and dining area feel more spacious, and upstairs, with the smaller rooms, still a comfortable 2.50m (8 feet 2 inches).

Regards and thanks to everyone.

We need a ceiling height of 3.10m (10 feet 2 inches) for a 65sqm (700 square feet) living room. Sometimes we also lower it partly to "hide" boxes.

Ok, if the living room is only 65m² (700 sq ft), it might be suitable, but I definitely don’t think it’s right for our floor plan.

I would find a factory hall like that really uncomfortable...

I also have a living room like that, and it ended up being 2.80 m (9 ft 3 in).

2.80 m (9 feet 2 inches) < 3.10 m (10 feet 2 inches). I also find that borderline, but it can still look good.

I have experienced 3 m (9 feet 10 inches) living rooms quite often, but I feel they no longer feel cozy. If I want to see the ceiling only through binoculars, I’d rather go out to the terrace.
