Good morning home builders.
A question: Who is building with a gas heating system according to the new building regulations?
I ask because I have to install the most expensive windows to achieve an overall U-value of 0.7 (due to the new regulations).

How is it for you?

Hello, we are not building yet, but we have already gathered several quotes. We are also planning to use a gas heating system, but want to achieve the KfW 55 standard. Therefore, our plans include a controlled mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, a solar thermal system, and our windows also have an overall U-value of 0.7.

Why does it have to be KfW55?

Because the additional cost for the features we want is low, the KFW funding is worthwhile for us.

How is it with you?

If you don’t want or need a government energy efficiency loan (KfW loan), it’s not a problem at all.
I’m still in the early planning stage myself and currently leaning toward gas (without solar thermal) or a heat pump with a ground collector.

A guest without solar thermal will also have difficulties with a ventilation system.
