Hello,
we are currently working on the electrical planning and are considering how many power outlets, LED lights, LAN sockets, etc., to install and where. We are also planning to install camera surveillance later on.
I find the Homeway system interesting as well.
Do you have any tips on things you definitely think should be included and considered?
Anything you might have forgotten and now regret?
I would appreciate any ideas and advice.

You can spend quite a lot of money on electrical installations. So make sure to consider whether some ideas will actually be used.
I know: for Christmas lights. I forgot to plan for them—and I actually only miss one! Do people really still cover windows with string lights or put up those "what are they called again, wooden stands with 5 lights that grandma already had"? Because with 10 windows, this can easily add up to around 500 € (about 530 USD) for the general contractor that’s just wasted.
For a summer party, the indoor socket with an extension cord is enough—constant music is usually not appreciated in the neighbors’ gardens.

- Classic: socket outlet in every window recess

@ypg ... in the Ore Mountains region, having an electrical outlet in the window reveal is mandatory—not for some kind of industrial 5-light chandeliers, but for proper Schwibbögen.
And, for the terrace... a music or TV connection... I just say "Terrace viewing World Championship or European Championship" is already great, and it’s also great when no cables need to be routed from inside to outside.

Everything I mentioned were just ideas, not obligations. I don’t have any speaker cables going outside, but the outlets near the few windows really weren’t a problem. If we followed your logic, you wouldn’t be allowed to put an outlet in every corner...
As I already wrote in the first post, there aren’t too many outlets, just too few. Now it’s a few meters of cable, later it will cost thousands of euros in effort...

"Terrace viewing World Championship or European Championship" Yeah, basically everything is allowed there anyway. But honestly? Anyone can do it with a trip hazard—the TV has to be pulled out anyway. What I mean is: small things add up, and it would be a socket that isn’t permanently or regularly in use. Therefore, you shouldn’t overestimate nice and expensive details.

And I must say that we hardly have too few, except in two corners where one is missing each... and I’m missing a second outlet at the kitchen counter. However, many are currently unused. Behind the TV, we have three too many: the switch was somewhat well planned, but we didn’t consider that the receiver and other devices would all be plugged into this one multiple outlet.
But we are just collecting suggestions for the original poster; whether they should be implemented is up to everyone to decide themselves.

For a summer party, an indoor socket with an extension cable works fine A power outlet on the terrace, switchable from inside, is surely part of even the most basic equipment packages, right? I definitely wouldn’t want to go without that.
There are also electric garden tools (corded; the classic used to be the lawn mower. I’m not sure if today there are only battery-powered models for small gardens and the next level up is the ride-on mower with a 5 L V8 engine …). Anyway: outdoor electricity – a must.
