ᐅ Have the sewer connection from the house carried out by a civil engineering contractor?

Hello everyone,

For our construction project, I am currently trying to obtain cost estimates for utility connections. I have already received rough estimates from the electricity provider and the water utility. Since a sewer connection is already available on the property, I assume I should contact the city’s civil engineering department.

So, a quick question: Who is usually responsible for carrying out the sewer connection from the house? The city? A civil engineering contractor?

8,000 just for water?

I thought Velbert was already extremely expensive.

Water was charged as a flat fee plus an amount per meter of pipe length, as well as a construction cost surcharge(?) depending on the length of the street frontage, totaling just over 3,000€.

Electricity was a flat fee of just under 2,000€.

Yes, just for water... I assume the main part is the construction cost surcharge, which includes apartment units with a 10% surcharge and the land area.

Civil engineering.
Foundation.
Access road.
Drainage.

Critical cost items in every house construction. I know them all too well.

The deviations from our construction cost forecast were significant here. I had many sleepless nights and had to cut many things later on. When the municipal utilities quoted me the price back then, I thought I’d jump out the window. 5000, over budget... just a few days earlier, another item related to BSFM cost 10,000 in 3 days—simply gone. And the entire inspection shaft and tapping work cost another 5,000. That’s why I have a poor garden and no carport for our cars. We’re still alive.

But that’s how building is. Exciting, and it always turns out differently than you think.
