Hello! Does anyone have an exterior facade made of calcium silicate bricks on their house? Compared to regular plaster and brick cladding, how do the costs differ? Are there any disadvantages that made you decide against it or that would prevent you from choosing it again? Best regards

We are also building our house with calcium silicate blocks for the interior and exterior walls and having it clad with facing bricks. It did not cost us extra compared to Poroton.

Well, I actually meant the facade itself, not the walls with brick cladding added later. The sand-lime bricks are supposed to be visible on the outside. Do you understand that? Is it even possible to clad a wooden house with sand-lime bricks?

You can no longer build houses entirely from pure sand-lime brick, as they do not meet the requirements of the energy-saving regulations (building codes). If you want exposed sand-lime brick, you will have to build a cavity wall.

Double-shell construction, is that somewhat similar to brick cladding? Is it also possible to do this on a wooden wall?

If you believe the green forum, yes – but. It is probably more structurally demanding. However, in our village, I have already seen two houses with brick cladding.

So, like in the attachment, it looks for example like this 😉

Well, the brick at the bottom looks very similar to ours 🙂 but it is a standard facing brick. And applying render at the top is quite unusual anyway. I can’t understand why anyone would do that.
