Hello everyone,
We are planning to build a single-family house and until recently thought that having a basement was a must. However, we are slowly moving away from that idea because we both know from our parents’ experiences that basements often end up just being storage rooms for all kinds of stuff that is never used again.
So now we are reconsidering the design to build without a basement.
Since I enjoy DIY projects (whether working with wood or electronics), I would like to have a small workshop where I can pursue my hobby undisturbed.
Has anyone integrated such a hobby room within their utility or technical room? If so, could you possibly share some pictures? Of course, you can also set up a hobby room in a larger garage, but it would be nicer if it were inside the house since it would be warmer, etc.
If anyone has suggestions on how to implement this simply and effectively, I would appreciate hearing them.

Hello,
I received a private message from [USER=27922]@muttley and hadn’t seen this thread before. In case there are other participants interested in the topic, I don’t want to keep my message to [USER=27922]@muttley secret, so I’m posting it here as well.
Hello,
I just realized with some surprise that I don’t actually have a photo of the room. However, I’m happy to share the floor plan with you:
On the left side, as shown, I have a row of heavy-duty shelves for tools and supplies. In front of the window at the top, there will be a workbench. In the niche, as depicted, are the air-to-water heat pump and the water storage tank. Along the bottom wall facing the garage, I have cabinets for sports equipment, and my wife has one for decorations and flower accessories. On the right side, we currently have some leftovers from the house construction and garden items. However, all of that will move into a garden shed during the summer.
With 27 m² (290 sq ft), the room is really spacious. A few square meters less would have been sufficient, but I’m absolutely satisfied with the solution. We don’t have to go down to the basement for anything and have everything on one level.
Conclusion: I would definitely do it the same way again.

yes.. there is no picture @muttley asked for pictures or a floor plan. This was the floor plan, not photos of the rooms.
