here’s a topic that isn’t directly related to construction for once...
Somehow, the decoration craze caught us just before Christmas.
How have you decorated your "home" to get into the spirit of your (first) Christmas in your own house?
Here are a few pictures of how things look at our place right now – we’re looking forward to seeing many beautiful photos of your decoration ideas.

I am really looking forward to our first Christmas, especially since this year we will finally have a Christmas tree again. For the past two years, we didn’t have one because our old living room was a walk-through room and the tree was always in the way.
This year, we have already picked out a tree and bought some new decorations, because a bigger tree means more ornaments. We will pick up the tree just before Christmas Eve and set it up around midday.
On the street-facing side of our house, we had electrical outlets installed in the window recesses because I wanted to have Christmas lights at last. In the old house, there was no space for that and not enough outlets, so this year I bought three new stars.
And this year, we finally have an Advent wreath as well. Unfortunately, we didn’t have one in the old house either, due to lack of space.
Yes, Christmas is really lovely, especially when you can catch up on everything you had to do without for so many years!

We had plasterers here until Saturday to plaster the shower bathroom, the hallway on the ground floor, and the staircase.
A good adhesive job is half the plastering done. There is still chaos, though. I sometimes wonder where the chaos always comes from.

A strong bond makes cleaning easier afterward. However, there is still chaos. Sometimes I wonder where all the chaos keeps coming from. I come from the forest outside, bringing chaos and maybe even much more....... ☺

we obviously share similar opinions quite often. But when it comes to decoration madness, we do have different views.
I really can't stand so much fuss.
Still – for the sake of my wife and to show my kids that Christmas is coming, I do allow some things (or rather, I’ve resigned myself to it).
Decorations at our place:
1. We have a lit star hanging in the patio door, two living room windows, and the office.
2. In the kitchen, we have a wooden Schwibbogen (wooden candle arch) as well as a wooden star with a snowman (also illuminated) hanging there.
3. The bedroom got decorated this year too – a Schwibbogen adorns the window.
4. My wife knitted Christmas sock calendars for the kids. That means different colored small socks that get filled. These sock calendars hang on the stair railing.
5. Four felt boots hang from the stair balusters, which get filled for St. Nicholas Day.
6. A homemade Advent calendar for the adults (we share the little bags).
7. In the lower hallway, there is a long candle arrangement with electric candles. It’s hardly ever turned on but it’s there and collects dust.
8. The Christmas tree – 2.30 meters (7 feet 7 inches) tall and decorated in “Anna-Elsa style” (silver-blue) – anyone with little girls at home will know what I mean. (This year it’s still a real tree – next year a fake one.)
Our Christmas pyramid always gets put somewhere. We haven’t found a proper place for it yet.
My wife actually wanted to make one or two wreaths for the door. Well – probably next year. Foolishly, the materials are already bought, though. Oops. Maybe the pine clippings can be used in the garden.
Also, my wife threatened to decorate our fall protection railing above the L-shaped concrete blocks with a string of lights. Probably out of consideration for my mental state, she has so far refrained from doing this. I’m guessing she’s saving that escalation for next year.
