Hello,

Has anyone here installed vinyl flooring themselves, and if so, how did it go?

We want to install vinyl planks in our house and have already chosen them. I will contact the seller again soon, but I would be happy to read some personal experiences here!

I don’t think our issue affects all vinyl floors. The floor we installed, NEO WOOD, as the name suggests, contains wood components. Apparently, this caused problems, which is why the new version is called NEO 2.0 and uses stone flour as the base material instead of wood. At least, this is what the specialist dealer and the representative from Classen (who, as we found out today, no longer works there) said.

Unfortunately, I can’t provide any information about WINEO. A colleague has been installing it for two weeks now, but as a floating floor. If you still have time, I would ask her in February, after moving into the house, how satisfied she is with the floor.

When I read this, I am not sure whether I should install vinyl flooring. Which ones would you recommend?

We are currently torn between cork click parquet and click vinyl flooring.

Structurally, these two floorings are basically the same (cork underlayment for sound insulation at the bottom, then an HDF wood panel, followed by a cork layer, and on top either vinyl or another cork layer).

But from what I've read about vinyl, I might lean towards cork because I’m worried there could be issues with the vinyl once it’s installed.

I read somewhere that vinyl flooring might emit an artificial chemical odor when installed if it’s not ventilated for a day. (That would be a deal-breaker for me.)

Cork parquet feels pleasantly warm underfoot—I’ve tested it myself.

How is that with vinyl?

Best regards

Hmm, well, we are probably going with an adhesive installation. Most likely, we will have the floor installed ourselves starting in February, but of course, I’m still interested in hearing about others’ experiences.

Well, I can only speak about our sample pieces. We ordered and received samples from several manufacturers. Some samples already had a very chemical smell, while others didn’t smell at all right from the start. So I would simply recommend ordering some samples and comparing them.

Vinyl definitely feels warm underfoot, certainly warmer than tile floors. However, I think cork might be a bit warmer.

Friends of mine have cork flooring in their kitchen and two cats. Unfortunately, their click-lock cork no longer looks good at all because it’s all scratched up....

We installed the vinyl flooring from Bauxxxx with a seamless technique in March this year. It covers almost the entire basement level (about 79 m² (850 sq ft)). In the open-plan kitchen and living area, the floor separated near the double patio door (direct sunlight, south-facing side). Along the edges, there is now a visible gap of approximately 6 mm (1/4 inch). We had the kitchen built on top of the floor. The issue only occurred near the patio door. Also, I found the clicking mechanism and installation noticeably more difficult compared to when I installed regular laminate flooring upstairs.

The floor feels warm underfoot, and there is definitely no unpleasant odor. Unfortunately, there are already a few scratches around the dining table despite using felt pads on the chair legs.

Otherwise, I can recommend the floor. After winter, I plan to take the rows apart and reinstall them.

This evening, we had an unannounced visit from the manufacturer. One of the managing directors came by to inspect, take measurements, check the edges, and photograph the floor.
We had a pleasant conversation during which we agreed that, unfortunately, our floor can no longer be saved.

He promised to inform our dealer and contractual partner. We should receive the agreed-upon information in writing by the end of next week.

I will keep you updated.
