Hello,

we would like to install engineered wood flooring in our new build and currently have several sample boards available.

We are interested in testing the formaldehyde emissions ourselves using test strips, as we do not always have manufacturer information and prefer not to rely solely on that.

However, we are unsure if this approach makes sense. The tests I have found measure the concentration in indoor air. If I place a sample board with the test strip inside an airtight container, the concentration will likely become very high.

Has anyone here conducted a similar test themselves or knows of providers who can carry out this testing in an impartial (and affordable) way?

I would appreciate any tips!

Do you cook with gas?

Because formaldehyde is also released during this process.

Your question will probably not be answered by any user here; therefore, I recommend contacting a building biologist.
