We have chosen the two energy sources mentioned above as our favorites. Now we need to decide which is suitable for us. Our house is about 143m² (1,539 sq ft).
What would you recommend? What are the pros and cons of each? Are there any details on average operating and installation costs? Lifespan, etc.?
Thank you.

The noise from the outdoor units has already caused disputes in the neighborhood more than once. One unit had to be relocated after a winter, moved to the opposite side of the property, far from its original installation site.
Two neighbors have stopped speaking to each other. The sounds from the outdoor unit can still be heard two houses away, despite the installation of a new silencer.
These are my observations and the experiences of the neighbors.

Hi EveundGErd,
could you possibly share the models of the units? We also have a few heat pumps in our neighborhood. Some are really quiet and run quite slowly, while others operate at a higher speed. I’m going to ask the guys what types of systems they have.
Best regards,
Mirko

nordanney16 Nov 2015 15:39Regarding noise levels, I can share my experience as well. Our neighbors have a Novelan heat pump. The outdoor unit is located about 6 m (20 feet) from one of our kitchen windows. Even with the window slightly open, you don’t notice any noise. The system is extremely quiet (I can’t say whether it’s also extremely expensive) – the fan of my plasma TV (when the sound is off) is almost as loud.

Hi EveundGerd
could you possibly specify the types of the devices?
I will inquire.

Bieber081516 Nov 2015 20:32My builder confirmed upon request that the heat pump he selected (Rotex HPSU Compact) will comply with the TA Lärm noise limits at the property boundary. (House under construction). I would have preferred to be on the safe side, but that would have meant an extra cost for a different heat pump.
The gas condensing boiler, which I originally preferred, was ruled out for cost reasons (initial investment slightly higher than the air-to-water heat pump option) and possibly (!) because the builder wasn’t interested in pursuing it.

This is the first time I’m reading something like this. The developer doesn’t make that decision.
Our general contractor prefers to install ground-source heat pumps and KFW55-standard houses. Nevertheless, we got the gas boiler of our choice instead of their standard unit. No extra cost and no big discussions. After all, I’m the one paying!
