Hello everyone,
I wasn’t able to find any relevant information on this topic.
Today, we visited the window manufacturer and also discussed front doors.
Since I often forget my key (at least I don’t lose it), and frequently have to crawl around in the garden to fetch the spare key, I would like to install an entrance door system in our new build that can be opened preferably with a door code or fingerprint (and optionally also with a key).
So far, I don’t see any clear advantage of one system over the other.
And no, it’s not enough to have a spare key in the car or at the neighbors’—I definitely want a system that works without a key.

Hmm – I am theoretically impressed by the fingerprint solution, but practically, not at all. However, my experience mainly refers to the fingerprint scan on my phone (S5).
While it works flawlessly for my wife (S6), I sometimes get completely frustrated. Successful recognition on the first try is rare. It is not rare at all for it to be rejected after the fifth attempt, followed by a waiting period of 30 seconds. There have even been occasions with 10 unsuccessful attempts. After the 15th failed attempt, I am informed that I have 5 more tries left before the phone locks – luckily, that has never happened yet.
By now, I am slowly starting to hate this app (especially when you want to quickly take a nice snapshot of the kids), but somehow I’m too clueless to disable the darn thing.
Another problem with the fingerprint scan could be dirty (for example, after gardening) or moist (winter) hands.
So, I’m more inclined to go with a door code – but then again: If you’re always forgetting your house key, how will you manage with the code?

Eventually, we’ll have code plus transponder. Fingerprint is simply too unreliable, at least for now.
That’s what I was thinking too... why not all three?
Does it cost much more?
For fingerprint, they quoted me an extra charge of about 700 Euros.
