Hello and good day,

We have a relatively new gas heating system in the house, and I wanted to ask how often it should be serviced. Do we need to have a professional come for this, or can it be done by ourselves?

Hello,

I strongly recommend not to attempt anything yourself when it comes to heating systems, especially if gas is involved. It should always be handled by a professional.

Hello Barbar!!

I would advise you to have your gas heating system serviced every year, similar to how you would service a car.

First of all, it gives you the assurance that everything is working properly. Secondly, the unit needs to be cleaned—combustion chambers, gas tightness, ignition, and so on.

The only maintenance you can safely do yourself is cleaning the exterior, such as dusting. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend doing anything yourself if you are not experienced. So, I suggest having a professional carry out the servicing.

Best regards.

Hello there,

I service my heating system every 2 to 3 years. Otherwise, I bleed it myself, which is something anyone can do. Apart from that, I leave it alone.

Good morning,

I wouldn’t recommend doing anything with a gas heating system, as gas can be quite risky. There are frequent reports of entire houses exploding just because someone tampered with the heating system.

See you, Sibille

This usually happens when people try to tap into the gas supply illegally because they can’t or don’t want to pay for it.

That’s what Lucky tells you.
