Hello everyone,
I wanted to hear your opinions and experiences regarding a separate home theater. What advantages and disadvantages do you see? The TV would then be removed from the living room.
On one hand, we want a bright living room, but watching TV in the dark is more enjoyable.

Ok, I had used the term home theater incorrectly; it should rather be a small TV room. So, a couch and a TV inside.
Planning without a basement. These are just the initial thoughts to consider whether such a room makes sense. I have thought about the following scenarios.
Visitors come with children, and the weather might be bad, which can happen in Germany sometimes. Children -> home theater, parents comfortably at the table.
Similarly, men want to watch football, women discuss handbags 😉
Women want to watch their movie, men talk about roller shutter boxes. From the floor plan perspective, I think such a room could be nicely positioned in the center.

Just say right away that you actually want some peace and quiet away from the rest of the family 😉
We have a multipurpose room for that: equipped with a TV, of course, for guests and occasional football games for the husband. I find any other ideas silly, unless you consider Cinemax a hobby.

Just say straight away that you actually want some peace and quiet away from the rest of the family 😉I could really use that right now, Yvonne (twins 6 months old). As I said, it’s just a thought. Maybe someone has a media room like that and has had great experiences with it.

I don’t see any disadvantages, as long as there is enough space for such a room; instead, there are plenty of advantages ... including a wonderful retreat 😀
Best regards, Bauexperte

... including a wonderful retreat 😀You’re forgetting the twins, who will insist on their TV rights for at least another 18 years 😉
Therefore, an additional room with a TV in addition to the living room with a TV makes more sense than just one TV room – otherwise, you have to wonder where the retreat is 😉
