Hello

I currently have a Bosch PBH 220 RE drill, but sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle when working on walls, and my drill is quite old.

I’m considering getting a new one if there’s a noticeable advantage. I was thinking about a Hilti or a model like the Bosch GBH 5-40 DCE, or the Bosch GBH 2-28 DFV, or maybe keeping my current drill and just getting new drill bits.

What would you recommend? The drill bits are only about 10 years old.

Best regards

For drilling a few walls, a Hilti is overkill. A small Bosch rotary hammer drill will be more than enough – with proper drill bits, you should be able to manage your DIY projects easily.

At some point, this topic was already discussed here. I believe it was important that the impact energy is sufficiently high to effectively break through concrete.

I have the BOSCH GBH 2-28 DFV and use it regularly during the construction phase – really good for drilling, so-so for chiseling, but craftsmen rarely do that anyway.

I can only recommend it – lightweight and powerful for its class.

I have the Bosch PBH 2100RE. It is definitely sufficient for private use. I was even able to drill 16mm (5/8 inch) holes into my concrete ceiling without much effort.

I have (yes, me as a woman!) a Hilti TE 2 and I am very satisfied with it. You should have seen the expressions on the workers’ faces when they caught me using it to gut the house. I will never forget those looks. After that, it seemed like communication with me as a woman was easier for the workers. ☺☺

Edit: I chose a Hilti because it has special protection that reduces vibrations to the wrists and ultimately also the chest. And that really is true, as I found out when comparing it to a Bosch. I received excellent advice on this from several men in another forum (T5 forum).
